It's in their hands now...

We sent our last bit of paperwork today. It is currently in route to Amarillo...will be there tomorrow morning and then it is off to Uganda! Once it gets there our lawyer will take it to the courts and then we will just be waiting on a court date!
We don't know how long this will take, but trust that it is in the LORD's hands! Our next post should be that we are getting ready to get on a plane and go meet/get our children!!
It is a great day!!!!

Our Referral

I may not be very good at updating this, BUT this one couldn't wait!! We have our referral!! We have two beautiful children (a boy and a girl) from Africa that will soon be home with us! We can't give a bunch of info right now, but when we can we will! We can say they are from just outside of Kampala, Uganda. When we can give more info we will! We are so excited! Thanks for your prayers and encouragement in this process!

Off we go again...

It has been over a month since we last updated, and that time has been spent waiting for our homestudy to be processed. It is done!! We got it in the mail on Friday
This morning I sent off our paperwork to the US government for preapproval of the adoption. (It is was little strange writing a check to the US Department of Homeland Security - made me feel like some very large men in suits and ear pieces were going to show up at my door).
Now we get to work on our Dossier (paperwork that goes to Uganda) and wait for US approval! We are excited to be moving along again!!
Thanks for your prayers and support!

Update

Our Homestudy was completed on Saturday! It went great and now we are just waiting for the write up so that we can move on to our dossier (the paperwork that goes to Uganda).

Thanks again for your prayers and your support in this time - we can feel both!

Our First Hiccup

They have told us along the way to be flexiable and honestly it has gone so smoothly with no hiccups whatsoever, until now. This is MINOR, really not even a big deal, but our social worker had to reschedule our homestudy for October 23rd. Again this is not a big deal at all, but we were hoping for this to happen very quickly - I guess we just have to settle for quickly! Just wanted to keep you all informed!

Homestudy

We sent all the paperwork we had in today AND our social worker contacted us and we are having our homestudy on Sunday (October 17th) at 2:30 PM!! Pray for our peace and sanity (and that my wife realizes our house is ALWAYS clean and that we dont need to move all the furniture to clean behind it)! Thanks for your encouragement and prayers!!

What's Happening!!

We have been contacted by our social worker about our homestudy, so that should be happening in the next few weeks. We have also finished our adoption education (which was comprised of hours sitting in front of a computer and taking test), which had some good info (95% of which my early childhood educated wife already knew).
At this point all we are waiting on is our marriage license, which in our moves since marriage has been misplaced. Other than that we have everything we need (for now)
After the homestudy we will get to work on our dossier (which is the paperwork we send to Uganda to basically 'apply' to get the (our) children).
God has been so good (like we should be shocked). He has already provided beds for our new kids (cool story I can blog about later). And every step of this process has been seamless (although we understand that this probably won't be the case all the way through).
I will try and update the blog weekly so you all know what is going on. Also we are sending out an info letter, if you want to get one just email me your address (brad@rainbowbaptist.com).
We love you all more than you know and appreciate your words of encouragement and prayers!!. Thanks for everything
